When Jesus was asked what to look for at the time of his 2nd coming he warned about False Prophets Preachers and Perverts teaching a different Gospel.
Of all the prophecies and signs recorded in the Bible regarding the Last Days, Jesus claimed False Prophets (preachers perverting the Gospel), as the prime signal to His return.
Matthew 24: 3-4 & 11 “3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
There’s an awful lot of noise about the Last Days, in fact, it has become a multi-billion dollar industry filled with every kind of conclusion one can imagine. There are so many theories it’s nearly impossible to know which to hang your faith on. Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, Post-Tribulation rapture. Daniel’s 70th Week of a 7 year worldwide “Great Tribulation.” The coming of The Antichrist. The 666 Mark of the Beast. And so on.
In all the noise about the end times, Jesus’s warning is muted.
It’s the devil’s trick to fascinate us with the shining objects of the Last Days predictions. Like a magician using misdirection to attract our attention away from the obvious. He has diabolically moved our focus away from sound doctrine.
So, what exactly is Satan hiding from us in the hand held behind his back? It’s the thing he most want’s us miss. The Gospel message of the free gift of salvation offered in Christ by grace alone, through faith alone.
There is no greater assault on Christianity in these end times than the false doctrines perpetuated about how we obtain salvation. Indeed, the false prophets rose up, and they are deceiving from the church pulpits around the world. Looking and sounding like godly men and women, they gain our trust through a mass alignment and agreeance of a perverted principle regarding salvation. Leaving us to assume they must be right. Leaving us never hearing the un-perverted gospel or ever knowing the difference.
Jesus knew this was going to happen. HE WARNED YOU.
And he had the Apostle Paul warn you as well in his letter to the Galatians 1:6-7
“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.”
It’s against our nature to even contemplate that we have fallen victim to a perverted false prophet, and have been deceived. Satan uses this knowledge like a Jiu Jitsu move, using our own arrogant confidence against our willingness to suspect otherwise. But Jesus said this was the one thing to watch out for before he returns. Ergo, is it not better to be safe than sorry on the subject of your eternal life? Isn’t more wise to suspect you have unknowingly come under the influence of deception? I mean if not you, then who was Jesus warning? Everyone but you?
Maybe it’s time for a gut check.
