The Pre-Trib Rapture Syndrome, or PTRS.

Having already shared my opinions about the “Daniel’s 70th week Pre-Trib” viewpoint in my blog post Pre-Tribulation Rapture Debunked In Less Than 3 Minutes, I’ve now been inspired (by a recent chat with a Pre-Trib believer on Twitter), to examine a gaping flaw in the logic presented by those who’ve fallen for this particular chapter of what I’ve come to call the Christian Science Fiction Doctrine, a name my pastor uses to identify fact from fiction in modern day Christian teachings.

A quick refresher about the Pre-Trib Rapture theory for those not acquainted. As you can see in the graphic below, PTRS’ers promote the chain of Christ’s advents on earth began with His birth. His second coming will be seven years after He raptures all the saints from earth to protect them from what they call “The Great Tribulation”.

His Feet Don’t Touch The Ground!

We read in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

In order to believe these verses are not speaking about the 2nd Advent, the PTRS’ers have to denounce the “Trump of God” is the last trumpet, and Christ appearing in the clouds to call up the saints is NOT His second coming, it’s just a coming. Why? Because they need that seven year gap for “The Great Tribulation” to occur. What’s their proof the “Rapture” isn’t the second coming of Christ? HIS FEET DON’T TOUCH THE GROUND! I. Kid. You. Not.

Got it? Jesus descending from heaven, to earth, in these verses, DOES NOT QUALIFY as the second coming of Christ.

So what’s the gaping flaw of logic?

It struck me the person I was chatting with (a BIG Pre-Trib promoter on Twitter), is constantly urging people to be watching and ready for the Second Coming of Christ.

Do you see the “flaw” by my response? If you’re a Pre-Tribber, why bother preaching about all the chapters and verses in the Bible that warn us to be watching and being ready for the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ if WE’RE NOT GOING TO BE HERE WHEN HE COMES!?!

Let that sink in.

Either something is fundamentally wrong with the “Daniel 70th week Pre-Trib” theory (which I contend there is), or, the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ has to be in concert with the Rapture.

If you’re going to remain in the PTRS camp, you need to IMMEDIATELY STOP talking about being ready for the second coming, and start talking about getting saved before the “rapture”. It’s YOUR DUTY!
